Bio
Emily's songs are ever-evolving explorations of her inner world, collections of both sweet and bitter reminiscence and love letters to the land. Inherently political, she writes songs that are intended as spells and incantations, celebrating the patterns, cycles and shifts of nature, protesting our interference in them. Traditional folklore weaves through shruti box drones, cello grooves and becomes inseparable from her own imaginings and wonderings about the world and relationships around her.

Using her songs as an antidote for emotional stagnancy and an outlet for her own joy in creating, she extends them outwards as well as inwards, gently holding intimate and vulnerable spaces for communal exploration through music.

Emily was lucky enough to have a childhood steeped in music on all sides, learning cello classically and singing in choirs with school and church.
Now studying folk music at Leeds Conservatoire, she is part of various projects aside from her work as a solo artist, each facilitating a new and unique outlet for her joy in creating.

Citing Pentangle, Orla Gartland, Nick Drake, Laura Marling, Alice Phoebe Lou, The Rheingans Sisters, Hannah James and Toby Kuhn as strong influences, Emily drifts across genre borders, invoking soft elements of jazz into a contemporary folk feel, while paying homage to the roots of the folk tradition.
